Thomas Hofmeier

Thomas Hofmeier - born in 1969, raised in Balsthal - studied Egyptology, Near Eastern Archaeology and Comparative Religion at the Universities of Basel and Bern. During his studies he began working as a mediator in Basel museums, since 2006 also at the Historisches Museum Basel, where he became head of the Education & Mediation Department in 2017. His research on alchemy led him to the history of Basel, once the capital of this mysterious art. Books are his great passion: he collects, reads and designs them; sometimes he writes one himself. He lives in Basel with his turtle.
