Basel Historical Museum has its own academic library. Its ca. 30,000 holdings are works of relevance to the museum’s own collections.
Most of them date from the period between the 15th and 19th centuries, with a focus on the decorative arts (goldsmithing and silverware, textiles, glass, ceramics and furniture) and numismatics, supplemented by publications on musical instruments, timepieces, archaeology, museology (including restoration and conservation) and the cultural history of Basel.
