This telephone was originally located in Trimmis in Canton Graubünden, where it was installed in 1964. In those days, telephones could not be purchased but had to be rented from the post office for a monthly fee. By 1964, most families in Trimmis had their own telephone. For most of the 1950s, however, there were only three telephones in the whole village: one in the post office, one in a restaurant and one in the parsonage. The telephones in the post office and the restaurant could be used by members of the public.
