Movement with cylinder escapement; hour and minute hands
Inv. 1982.1076.
The highly ornate, skeleton movement of this watch is furnished with a cylinder escapement, making it a very accurate timekeeper. The white enamelled dial with lines marking the minutes and Arabic numerals the hours is protected by a glass dome with diamonds around the rim. The watch was wound up by inserting a little key – not preserved – into the dial. The miniaturization of all the various parts of this watch make it a most unusual piece.
