Psychotherapy
Description
There is a wide range of psychotherapeutic methods available today. Psychodynamic therapies and behavioural therapies play a particularly important role. Psychodynamic methods assume that mental disorders originate in unconscious, unresolved conflicts. In therapy, these conflicts are brought to consciousness, which makes change possible.
Behavioural therapy, on the other hand, sees the origin in misguided learning processes and problematic thought patterns. These can be 'unlearned' through targeted training.
For clinics, group psychotherapy has been particularly important. It can be used by several patients at the same time. In addition, certain areas of conflict only arise in a group setting.
