Art therapy
Description
The realisation that artistic forms of expression can have a healing effect on people with mental illnesses has been around for quite some time. However, it was only after 1945 that independent forms of therapy emerged. The aim of art therapy is to give patients the opportunity to express themselves through music, painting or design and to access their creative resources. However, the focus is not on the end product, but on the experience of the artistic process.
