Petschaft with the coat of arms of the Burckhardt family
Description
On the petschaft, which has a handle in the shape of a dolphin and a ring for hanging, the coat of arms of the Burckhardt family of Basel can be seen. The Basel patrician family Burckhardt goes back to the 1490-1512 mentioned Stoffel Burckhardt, who came from Britznach in the Baden Münstertal and was a grocer at Neuenstadt in the Black Forest. His son Christoffel Burckhardt (1490-1578), cloth merchant and later silk merchant, migrated to Basel, bought into the saffron guild in 1521 and became a Basel citizen in 1523.
