Description

The danger of the church collapsing led not only to a six-and-a-half-year closure, but also to a complete reorientation in the way the collection was presented. Once again, the history of the building pointed to the way forward: with the restoration of the three naves, the re- construction of the rood screen and the extension of the crypt, the church was returned to its original, pre-Reformation form. For the display of the collection, this meant the long- sought spatial separation of sacral art in the choir from secular art in the main room.
