The medieval tapestries at the Historisches Museum Basel feature numerous mythical creatures and wild men. The collection’s cabinet of curiosities also showcases strange and precious objects that were once collected and studied in order to better understand and interpret the world.
As part of the programme, pupils explore the collection and examine the question of what world view people of earlier times held and how this has changed over the centuries. Through selected objects, they learn how reality and fantasy were intertwined.
