Library
Basel Historical Museum has its own academic library. Its around 30,000 holdings are works of relevance to the museum’s own collections. The entire collection can be searched via the national search portal Swisscovery.
Access and Lending
Members of the public may use the library by appointment. It is not a lending library, but there are scanners and photocopiers that visitors are welcome to use.
Key thematic areas
The collection focuses on applied arts (gold and silversmithing, textiles, glass, ceramics, furniture), numismatics, musical instruments and the cultural history of Basel. It also includes publications on timekeeping, archaeology, museology, restoration and conservation.
