Cycle II, Cycle III, 3. bis 6. Klasse der Primarschule, 1. bis 3. Klasse der Sekundarschule
Über das Angebot
The city of Basel looks back on a long history of settlement: the area where the city now lies on the banks of the Rhine was once home to the Celts. Later, the Romans conquered the Münsterhügel, and Basel became part of the Roman Empire. Archaeological finds such as pottery, jewellery and tools provide a glimpse into everyday life in these early settlements.
As part of the programme, pupils explore the archaeological collection and, using settlement models, learn more about the history and culture of the Celts and Romans. They examine selected objects and discuss together: How were these items made? What were they used for? And what do they reveal about the lives of people in those times?
