Leaps Through Time – A Brief History of Basel: Who makes history?
Workshop
The history of the city of Basel stretches far back in time and is constantly evolving. The exhibition ‘Leaps in Time – Basel’s History in Brief’ highlights events and developments from the last 100,000 years. It also focuses on topics from the recent past that continue to have an impact today – such as the women’s strike, the chemical disaster in Schweizerhalle, migration and immigration, the importance of the pharmaceutical industry, and the relationship between town and country.
As part of the programme, pupils explore contemporary issues from various historical perspectives. Together they discuss: What is history? Who or what shapes it? And which events from our own lifetime might be recounted and exhibited at the Basel Historical Museum in the future?
