Leaps Through Time – A Brief History of Basel: My, your, our Basel!

Over the course of its more than 100,000-year history, the city of Basel has undergone constant change – both architecturally and socially. The exhibition ‘Leaps in Time – Basel’s History in Brief’ illustrates this transformation through objects, historical cityscapes, plans and models, and shows, among other things, how social changes are reflected in the cityscape.

As part of the programme, pupils explore the historical development of Basel. They examine architectural, social and cultural changes, as well as continuities across the centuries. On request, the focus can be placed on a specific era – such as the Middle Ages, the Early Modern period or the Modern era.
