Provenance Research
Description
Provenance research investigates the origin of objects. In careful research, the object is examined in a so-called autopsy for possible indications of its provenance and archives are searched for further information on possible changes of ownership.
In this small exhibition, we present the results of a detailed autopsy of an object and introduce key terms from the world of provenance research on stringed instruments.
