Zurich tableware with overprint decoration

The earthenware plates are printed with depictions of peasants (man with a scourge, young woman with a basket, woman with a pitchfork and a rake). They are based on models by the engraver Heinrich Bruppacher (1758-1835) who worked in Wädenswil ZH.

The depiction of the reaper is based on an engraving by Heinrich Bruppacher (1758-1835), an engraver working in Wädenswil ZH.

Object Description

Towards the end of its production period (1763-1790), the porcelain manufactory in Kilchberg-Schooren also produced tableware in the less expensive stoneware material. This was decorated mostly by overprinting, which made production more expeditious.
