Wall mural

The canvas wallpaper is painted with various fantasy landscapes: A ravine with doves, a monastery on rocks, peasants at a garden gate, fishermen at a waterfall, a round temple and a harbor view. The painter Maximilian Neustück (1756-1834) created the charming landscape paintings in 1787 for the house "zum Rosenfeld" (Freistrasse 40), which was demolished in 1892. The section depicting the seaport is signed and dated lower left below the coiled rope. The landscape painter Neustück was born in Mainz in 1756 and was active in Basel from 1780.
