Objekt 3008
Saint Lambert from the Charterhouse of Freiburg im Breisgau
Description
Of all the Freiburg stained-glass panels, this format-filling figure of a bishop is the one that looks most like a real individual. In front of him is a monumental rendering of the Freiburg im Breisgau coat of arms. We know that the panel was donated by Emperor Maximilian I, as its counterpart showed Saint George with the imperial coat of arms (formerly in Berlin, Kunstgewerbemuseum, lost in the war).
