Rope-tensioned Drum of the city drummer Beck

The city drummer Christoph Beck lived from von 1805 - 1867. In addition to his main profession, he was active as a drum teacher and dealer in drum skins.
His son Jakob (Schaggi) Beck (1834 - 1891) was also known by the name of 'Schnuurebegg'. He was also a fine drummer and drum teacher. According to the note on the file card of the HMB, Beck announced the general mobilisation in the streets of Basel in 1870.
