The notice announces the sale at auction in Liestal in 1836 of the 56 medieval gold and silver objects from Basel Cathedral Treasury allotted to Canton Basel-Landschaft following the division of the canton into two half-cantons. Listed as the first of the 45 lots is the Golden Altar Frontal in «Byzantine style.» The bidders included dealers from Frankfurt and Berlin as well as Basel goldsmiths and private individuals.
