Cathedral Bell

Description

This plain-looking bell in the shape of a beehive belonged to the oldest set of church bells in Europe. Writing in the early 12th century, Theophilus Presbyter described this type of bell, claiming that the triangular holes in the shoulder made for a much clearer sound, although recent experiments have shown that they could not have had any influence on sound quality.
