Interior View of Basel Cathedral
Description
The painting postdates the mid-19th century renovation of the cathedral, when the rood screen was torn down and new stained-glass windows were installed in the choir. What was left of the Cathedral Treasury – several items having been auctioned off to various European collections and museums – was housed in the museum on Augustinergasse at the time.
