Portrait medallion of the mayor Hans Bernhard Sarasin (1731-1822)
Description
Hans Bernhard Sarasin studied jurisprudence and history in Leiden and Basel, where he received his doctorate. Initially living as a wealthy private citizen and devoting himself to his studies, he eventually held various important public offices. Among them was that of mayor, which he held from 1803 to 1812.
