Description

Hieronymus Falkeisen was born in Arisdorf in 1758 and began his studies in theology in 1772. He performed his first pastoral service from 1784 as an orphanage priest in Basel. in 1791 he became parish assistant in the Theodorskirche in Kleinbasel and already two years later pastor of the large inner-city parish of St. Leonhard. in 1816, at the age of 58, Falkeisen finally rose to the position of pastor and antistes (highest office in the Reformed churches) at the cathedral.
