Plate with bouquet of flowers in contoured floral painting

Description

Contoured flower painting: time-saving decorative technique
The plate is decorated with a very briskly executed bouquet of flowers. In this frequent type of decoration, the contours were first drawn, often using stencils. In the next step, the flowers and leaves were painted, usually in a fairly limited range of colors. With this time-saving form of decoration, Joseph Hannong tried to produce more cheaply and thus achieve greater sales.
