Plate with Chinese scene
Description
Exotic pictures: Chinoiseries
Under the direction of Joseph Hannong, from 1763 onward, Chinese themes returned as tableware decoration, having previously been part of the manufactory's decorative program until about 1748. Now it is largely individual figures, occasionally small groups, that are depicted in ever-similar idyllic settings. The small flowers on the flags match the exoticism of the depiction and show foreign motifs, some of which are reminiscent of cherry blossoms.
