Description
The death of a goldsmith often leads to the dissolution of the workshop. Parts of the estate are sold and museums and archives are asked to take on objects. For example, the Historical Museum received an offer to accept working material from the Basel goldsmith's workshop of Pierre Fürbringer as a donation. Such collections of models are not usually kept. With the inclusion of a selection of designs, semi-finished products, casting molds and his rich documentary material in the collection and the museum's own archive, the design activities of Basel goldsmiths in the 20th century can now be documented even more comprehensively. The objects provide an insight into the meticulous and very careful preparation and documentation of Fürbringer's jewelry creations.
