A passion for jewelry - works from the studio of Basel goldsmith Pierre Fürbringer

Description

The Basel goldsmith Pierre Fürbringer (1934-2017) produced high-quality jewelry with great inventiveness and craftsmanship. After his apprenticeship in Jacques Hauser's goldsmith's studio and a traineeship as a gem setter, he founded his own studio at Freie Strasse 34 in 1965. He trained a total of eight apprentices - including five women.

Fürbringer stands out among Basel's jewelry makers with his stone inlays, the stones of which he worked himself. His drawings and semi-finished products, which have been included in our collection from his estate, provide an insight into the creative process of a goldsmith. Fürbringer's jewelry creations were awarded prizes at international competitions:

1963 Prize of the City of Geneva
1966 Diamonds International Award
1971 Diamonds International Award
1984 Swiss Jewellery Award, 1st place
1987 Diamonds today competition, 1st place
