Gold enamel clock

Description

In fine enamel painting, the small clock shows on the dial the biblical scene of Judith and her servant with the head of Holofernes. On the back of the case is also an image of Judith and her servant, here with a wise man reading the future from her hand. Benjamin Arlaud was the brother of Jacques-Antoine Arlaud. Originally from Auvergne, the family, naturalized in Geneva since 1617, became wealthy by exporting watches to the Orient.
