Goblet glass
Description
On the wall of the glass there is an incised depiction of a sailing ship on a moving sea. Together with the inscription "Treue Freundschafft wancket nicht / Wenngleich Mast und Ancker bricht" (Loyal friendship does not waver / When the mast and anchor break), the result is an allegory of friendship that stands the test of time. This glass was probably made as a unique piece and given away by the buyer or client on a suitable occasion.
