Former Aristocratic Palaces on the Petersberg
Description
The six large courts on the western side of Petersgasse belonged to aristocratic families traceable to Basel since the 13th century: the Kohlerhof, Schönkindhof, Münchhof, Flachsländerhof, Offenburgerhof as well as the Andlauerhof, the latter on display here. Alluding to the former noble inhabitants of this area, the Nadelberg right next to it was called Adelberg (nobles‘ hill) in the 18th and 19th century.
