Jeremias Schlegel was baptized on February 12, 1730. At the age of 16 he took over the workshop of his father Christian Schlegel (1667-1746) after his death. in 1752 he became a member of the Collegium musicum as a bassoon player (until 1772) and thus also a "civis academicus". His workshop must have enjoyed a very good reputation, but his two sons apparently had no particular interest. Jeremias Schlegel was buried on February 6, 1792.
