Description
Sculpted leaves are a favourite ornamental motif in late medieval goldsmith works. How they are created is illustrated by this model. The flat sheet-copper leaves serve as blueprints for the sheet silver leaves, which are cut and then crimped through bending and chasing. The copper-alloy models were probably kept in the workshop as educational pieces to aid the employees.
