Description
The original of this ewer was first mentioned in the will of Bishop Johann von Venningen in 1470. Since that vessel disappeared without trace after being sold at auction in 1836, the goldsmith Albert Kreis had only a drawing belonging to the Historisches Museum Basel on which to base this replica.
