Copy: Branched Cross

Description

The Basel goldsmith Johann Friedrich Burckhardt Huber acquired the original of this branched cross when it was sold at auction in Liestal in 1836. This faithful replica of it was made by his 25-year-old son, who by that time had taken over his father’s workshop. The choice of cardboard as base material is most unusual.
