Copy: Chain of the Brandenburg Order of Our Lady of the Swan
Description
The original of this magnificent livery chain was bestowed on Peter Rot, burgomaster of Basel, in 1453, when Frederick II, Elector of Brandenburg, made him a member of the order of Our Lady of the Swan. Rot’s widow, Ursula von Efringen, left the chain to Basel Cathedral in 1506 as an ornament for the bust reliquary of Saint Ursula.
