A Basel-born idea that went global

Description

With its exhibition locations in Basel, Miami Beach and Hong Kong, Art Basel
is the most important fair in the world for modern and contemporary art.
The success story began in Basel in 1970. Art Basel was initiated by a team
based around the three driving forces of Trudl Bruckner, Balz Hilt and Ernst
Beyeler. From the outset, it was conceived as an ‘art market’ at which all that
was exhibited was also for sale. The logo for the first catalogue was designed
by the renowned Basel-based graphic artist, Herbert Leupin.
