Toy or collector's delight?

In many cases, it is not possible to definitively decide whether an object should be called a toy or a miniature object, whether it was really used by children to play in the dollhouse or whether it served as eye candy for adult curiosity collectors. Even in the art chambers of the Renaissance and Baroque periods, artistically crafted, tiny objects had a constant place. The virtuosity of the workmanship was fascinating about these collectibles, some of which were made of precious materials such as gold, silver, precious stones and ivory. This fascination with the small and artistic is timeless and is still expressed today in collections of knickknacks and small objects. Many such objects still end up in a toy box or dollhouse at some point today. It is part of the character of the toy that such small things are appropriated.
