Touching Coins

Description

Over the course of history we come across numerous, quite different Basel coins: Celtic and Roman coinage was followed by denarii at a weight of 1.4 gram of silver in the Middle Ages, then by thin, one-sided silver pennies called bracteates. In the late Middle Ages, the city introduced a series of larger silver coins such as the plappart and the groat, and afterwards, from 1542 on, the taler weighing just on thirty grams.

Notice the differences by touching the coin copies.
