The staple market in Barfüsserkirche

Description

The Barfüsserkirche served as a storage place for the next-door staple market from 1846 to 1865 with goods being cleared, handled and distributed to retailers here. The three doors symbolise the three countries that traded with each other: Germany, France and Switzerland. The doors were demolished in 1873 to make room for the expansion of the Stadtcasino.
