The Little Orchestra

The 'little orchestra' is in a certain way a link to room 13. The collegium musicum is shown around 1790, after a model by Franz Feyerabend (1755 - 1800).
Compare also the drawing by Emanuel Burckhardt-Sarasin in room 13.

Around 1828, Anton Sohn created the so-called 'big orchestra' after a model by Hieronymus Hess (1799–1850) (exhibited in 'Haus zum Kirschgarten').

There is hardly any difference between the caricatures of both groups. It refers to the mediocre quality of the orchestra, which has been documented for the late 18th century as well as for the early 19th century.
