Description

In this self-portrait, Philipp Jakob Treu (1761-1825) describes himself as a notary. Thus, the inscription on the lower edge states: "Philipp Jakob Treu. Notarius." He thus refers to his learned profession of notary, in addition to which he worked successfully as a sculptor and medalist.
