Reflecting telescope according to Gregory
Description
The optics of the reflecting telescope correspond to the system first constructed in 1663 by James Gregory (1638-1675), which was very common in the 18th century and was continuously improved: The centrally pierced, concave main mirror reflects the light rays into a smaller, concave secondary mirror. This reflects the rays - i.e. the far image - back into the eyepiece mounted behind the aperture of the main mirror.
