Pocket watch

Description

The hours on this clock are indicated on a rotating engraved metal plate - by the sun during the day, by the moon at night. The minute hand is on the outside of the case. The watch is also an example of cross-regional collaboration: the movement was built in Schaffhausen, the over-case in Geneva. Domaine Dassier, its maker, was appointed master silver and goldsmith in Geneva in 1698. This is the only case signed by him that has survived.
