Plate with "Fleurs des Indes" decoration in mixed technique

Description

Mixed technique: The extension of the color palette
On this plate, the colors yellow, blue, green and turquoise have been fired together with the glaze at high heat (about 1100° C). Especially in the case of turquoise, it is clear that not all colors were able to withstand this high temperature. To enrich the limited color palette, details in iron red and brown were then added and fired again at a lower temperature. After 1748, this technique was no longer used in the Strasbourg manufactory and was replaced by pure onglaze painting.
