Planetarium
Description
The planetarium built by the Ubicini brothers in Milan shows a flat equatorial ring with the zodiac, Italian month names and cardinal points. In the central axis are the sun and - to all appearances - a rotating, small moon. This false representation remains inexplicable. A rail, on which an oblique, rotatable globe with equatorial ring is mounted, serves as a pointer. By means of a mechanism with five gear wheels and a pressure spring, the globe can be moved towards or away from the sun.
