Minute sundial
Description
Minute sundials, which met the need for a more precise division of time, were created around 1700. Like equatorial clocks, this new type consisted essentially of a base plate equipped with a compass, to which a dial was attached that could be set to the desired latitude and thus parallel to the equatorial plane. A new addition was a mechanical device: the hour dial, which had a toothed edge, was equipped with an hour hand, which in turn was connected to a minute dial.
