Objekt 10
Iserlohn tobacco box (medal portrait of Emperor Franz I / Austrian double-headed eagle / medal portrait of Empress Maria Theresa)
Description
Iserlohn tobacco boxes could be produced in large numbers, as the embossing technique made serial production possible. Their small-scale depictions of scenes and people from contemporary history were widely sold. They also enjoyed great popularity in Basel: the museum owns five examples, all of which come from Basel families.
