Entry book, index card, database
Description
Before an artefact becomes a museum object, it has to be processed. The written entry in the entry book is the first step. Here basic information such as the date the object was acquired and its origin are recorded. Then the object is inventoried. In the past the detailed descriptions of the individual objects were recorded by hand on index cards, today the recording is done electronically. In future public databases will facilitate research and make the museum collection fully accessible.
