1894 - Opening
Description
Amazement, admiration and concern - the impressions of the very first visitors to the Historical Museum were mixed. They praised the church building, which had barely been saved from demolition, as the "most important piece in the collection". However, the joy at the numerous exhibits also led to concerns: "Indeed, the church already looks so full on its opening that one can hardly imagine how an expansion of the collection is possible in the space available."
