Transverse spinet, P. F. Brosi, after 1760
Description
Peter Fridrich Brosi was baptized in Schwäbisch Hall on January 14, 1700. After his apprenticeship as a carpenter, he turned to organ building and stayed in Strasbourg with Andreas Silbermann from February 1728 to August 10, 1732. A little later he probably settled in Basel. He took care of the various organs in the city. On November 5, 1733, he married Maria Elisabeth Illinger from Strasbourg in Grenzach. After his death in 1764, his sixteen-year-old son Johann Jacob took over the workshop.
